Large copper engraving with a panoramic view of the Bay and City of Batavia (modern day Jakarta) on Java, Indonesia, with Dutch and local ships on the foreground.

Jakarta was the most important base for the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC).

Copper engraving, published in Amsterdam in 1676 by Jacob Meurs in "Oost-Indische Voyagie: Containing important incidents and bloody sea and land battles against the Portuguese and Makassares (...)", Wouter Schouten.

Good condition. Some repairs/reinforcements on the backside in the margins and the vertical folds, with very minimal impact on the image. Very beautifully hand-coloured. Sufficient margins. Folds as issued.
