Folio-sized copper engraving featuring a bird's-eye view of the city of Monnickendam, with buildings depicted in elevation. The city is shown situated behind its fortifications.
The title appears in a cartouche at the top center, flanked by an extensive legend on the left and right. The coats of arms of Holland and West Friesland are in the upper left corner, while the city's coat of arms is in the upper right.
The map was originally published by J. Blaeu around 1650. This edition was issued by Frederik de Wit in his city atlas: *Perfecte Aftekeningen der steden van de XVII Nederlandsche provincies in plattegronden* (Amsterdam, 1698). It is signed under the left index.
