Large folio sized copper engraved plate showing a birds-eye view of Beachborough House (near Folkstone) showing the house, gardens and the avenues of trees stretching out into the surrounding park. Text beneath image - A Bonfire made on Beachborough Hill is seen in France. In the distance is the English Channel with ships.
Drawn by Thomas Badeslade (active c. 1719-1750) and engraved by Johannes Kip (1653?-1721), coat of arms to centre head, central fold. Originally published to be included in John Harris's "History of Kent" 1719.
Very good condition. Some small repairs in the outer margins. Otherwise excellent.
