The famous Blaeu edition of the Mercator map of Eastern Balkan area, showing the area Serbia and the Black Sea.
The map is centered on the Lower Danube, showing (parts of) modern day Bulgaria, Romania, Serbia and Macedonia. Includes decorative cartouche, coat of arms, etc. French text on verso.
The cartographer of this map was Gerard Mercator in the late 16th century, Blaeu was one of the successors using his work, adding his own signature.
This edition was published in the first French edition of "Atlas Novus," the atlas by William Blaeu, Amsterdam, 1635.
Very good condition. A small reinforcement on the back in the lower part of the central fold, not affecting the image. Thick paper, clear print and wide margins. Reverse side text in French
