Elaborately hand-colored.

W. Blaeu (1571-1638) studied with the great Tycho Brahe, then set up in Amsterdam as seller of maps, globes, and instruments, and editor of scientific works. He and his son Joan released their first large atlas (Latin title: Theatrum Orbis Terrarum) in 1635.

Good condition. Several reinforcements and small repairs, mainly in the margins, with very limited impact on the image. Some age browning and staining in the margins. Otherwise excellent. Nice copy, very beautiful hand coloring, not folded. Reverse side blank.
