First edition of W. and J. Blaeu´s map of the Dombes region just North of Lyon in France. The map is oriented with the North to the left, showing Lyon in the lower right corner (next to the names of W. and J. Blaeu), Macon in the lower left corner and Bourg-en-Bresse up in the middle of the map.

The area was anciently known as the principauté de Dombes, located between the pays de Bresse on the north and the Lyonnais at the south.

Large folio size. Original coloring. Published in Amsterdam in the first French edition of the ´Atlas Novum´ (French title: Le Theatre du Monde ou Nouvel Atlas). On the right-hand upper part and the left-hand lower part, two beautifull cartouches with cherubs. On the left-hand upper part, a coast of arms.

Very good condition. Two small closed worm holes, not affecting the image and some minor repairs on the back, not affecting the image. Otherwise excellent. Thick paper, wide margins, clear print. Central fold as published, text in French on the back.
