Large folio sized and highly detailed interesting copper engraved map of southern Spain by Robert de Vaugondy. It extends from Ayamonte north to Segovia and from Guarda in Portugal to the Mediterranean Sea. The important cities of Granada, Madrid, Malaga, Seville, Valencia and Gibraltar. The map renders the entire region in extraordinary detail offering both topographical and political information with forest and mountains beautifully rendered in profile. A beautifully engraved title cartouche in included in the bottom right quadrant.

Drawn originally in 1751 by Robert de Vaugondy for the 1757 edition of his Atlas Universal, this map was republished in 1776, with the Royal Privilege and the execution date removed.

Good-very good condition, small repaired tear in the bottom right part of the sheet with minimal impact on the border line. Otherwise excellent. Good margins. Central fold (as published).
