A large view of the town of Sirinhaém, around 70km south of Recife, in the Pernamboco region in the Northeast of Brazil.
This copper engraving shows a busy village filled with soldiers, workmen, ox-drawn carts, and a church. A key at bottom left identifies four sites of interest. Ribbon style title banner.
This print is from Arnoldus Montanus’ Die Nieuwe en onbekende Weereld, published in Amerstdam, 1671.
Reasonable-good condition, original coloring, some small repairs, sheet backed by paper, some light age browning.
