A nice full color example of Ortelius' map of Friesland, Groningen, Drenthe and Ost-Friesland with the islands, decorated with a compass rose, sailing ships and an elaborate cartouche.

Map dated 1568 and this edition is from the 1574 Latin edition of Ortelius' Theatrum Orbis Terrarum, the first modern Atlas.

Good condition, lateral margins cut short at image and extended with antique paper, some small damages/stains in the area of the central fold on top and below. Otherwise excellent. Very nice original antique coloring, thick paper. Text on back in Latin.
