Item number:
25 6 E
A very beautiful and decorative copy, in very good condition, of Janssonius' map of Aragon, based on the cartography of Juan Bautista Labana (a Portuguese man, which explains the spelling of Zaragoza, for example, as Çaragoça).
Published in Amsterdam in 1636 in the "Atlas Novus" with maps very similar to those of Blaeu, except for minor differences. A continuation and expansion of Hondius' Atlas, "Dedicated to the Most Illustrious Lords, Deputies of the Kingdom of Aragon, Don Juan Briz Martinez Abbade..." Author: Juan Bautista Labana.
Decorated with two decorative cartouches.
Very good condition. Some light brown staining, mainly in the margins. Otherwise very clean and clear print.
