Item number: 25 6 A

Highly detailed interesting unusual copper engraved set of three maps, on one large folio sized sheet, featuring the course of the northern Dvina river in northern Russia. The map shows the course of the river in three horizontal strips from its fountain to Arkhangelsk where it discharges into the White Sea.

The Northern Dvina (Се́верная Двина́; Komi: Вы́нва, romanized: Výnva) is a river in northern Russia flowing through Vologda Oblast and Arkhangelsk Oblast into the Dvina Bay of the White Sea. Along with the Pechora River to the east, it drains most of Northwest Russia into the Arctic Ocean. It should not be confused with the Western Dvina, with which it is not connected.

The principal tributaries of the Northern Dvina are the Vychegda (right), the Vaga (left), and the Pinega (right).

It is nicely detailed including engraved cities, rivers and lakes. A large figurate title cartouche and an ornate mileage scales cartouche adorn the map.
