Netherlands, The Hague, Scheveningen Boitet, 1730, Afbeeldinge van Schevelinge inden jaare 1729
Very large and very beautifully engraved 18th century view of Scheveningen, with The Hague in the background, as it was in the 18th century. We see the village from the sea. In the foreground fishermen, in the middle ground the village with the church, in the background the Scheveningse Weg and The Hague.
The plate comes from: 'Beschrijving van 's Gravenhage.', by Mr. Jacob Riemer (1676-1762), published in Delft by Reinier Boitet, 1730.
The book contains many beautiful engravings of important buildings, churches, monasteries, estates and castles of The Hague.
The plates were engraved by Gerrit van Giesen (1692-1750), Jan Caspar Phillips (1700-1765) and F. v. Bleyswyck. Published by Reinier Boitet (1680-1750).
Reasonable-good condition, very thick paper and very clear print. Repaired tears in the top of the image and in the intersection of some folds with limited influence on the image (see image). Some age browning in the left fold. Otherwise excellent. Folds as published.
