A beautiful copper engraving of the siege of Antwerp by Spanish troops in 1584 and 1585.
The map shows the city of Antwerp in the upper left and depicts the surrounding countryside in great detail, with the pontoon bridge built by the Duke of Parma in the Scheldt in the center, the breached dikes and flooded polders, and the fighting around the Kauwenstein dike on the right. At the top are the coats of arms of Antwerp, Philip II, and the Duke of Parma.
