A very large copper engraving (73 centimeters wide), printed on multiple copper plates, depicting a spectacular panoramic view of the city of Middelburg from the landward side. At the top are the coats of arms of Zeeland and Middelburg, carried by putti.
Published in the "Nieuwe Cronyk Van Zeeland,..." by Matthaeus Smallegange (*1624; †1710), edited by Johannes Mertens, Middelburg, 1696.
Fairly good condition. Several repairs with limited impact on the image (see images), nevertheless a very fine copy on clean paper, with wide margins.
