Uncommon copper large engraved map showing the city of Batavia (modern day Jakarta on the island of Java) with index of the most important buildings and specific attention for the changes in the city between 1731 and 1750. Batavia was the central capital fort he activities of the Dutch East Indies Company (VOC) in the Dutch East Indies (Indonesia).

Published in 1753 in The Hague (Netherlands) by De Hondt in the more rare international edition, with text and titles in French and Dutch, of ´Histoire generale des Voyages ....´.

Excellent condition. Clean, strong paper with wide margins.
