Extremely large (105,5cm) 17th century copper engraved panoramic view of Constantinopel, modern day Istanbul. This incredible panoramic view gives a spectacular image of the great capital of the Ottoman Empire.

The print depicts a panoramic view of Istanbul / Constantinople, Galata / Karakoy and Pera / Beyoglue, has a key to image and is decorated with a variety of sailing ships.

The engraving, printed from two copper plates that later were joined, was made by C. de Bruyn for his book ´Reizen van Cornelis de Bruyn door de vermaardste deelen van Klein Asia…´, 1698, Delft (Netherlands).

In this book he describes in great detail a voyage of several years through the Ottoman Empire, mainly through modern day Turkey, Egypt, Cyprus, Israel and Lebanon.

Very good condition, some light creases and some minor repairs, not affecting the image. Some very light age browning and some small stains. Thick paper with clear print. Ample margins.
