Very large copper engraving depicting a view of the famous Battle of Texel. This was a naval battle near Den Helder between a Dutch and a French-English fleet in August 1673. The French-English fleet was defeated by Michiel de Ruyter. This saved the Republic from an Anglo-French invasion.

Engraved by D. Stoopendaal and published in Geeraardt Brandt's book, "Het leven en bedrijf van den heere Michiel de Ruyter,..." (1691), published by the descendants of Blaeu, Amsterdam, 1691.

Extensive index at the bottom and in both upper corners.

Very good condition, some light age-related browning in the margins. Otherwise excellent. Folds as published. Wide margins.
